I. The Recap
Let’s take a look at what awesomeness just happened. Coulson’s team joined by Agents John Garrett and Antoine Triplett decide to go to a top secret S.H.I.E.L.D. facility to retrieve
a drug that could potentially save Skye’s life after she got shot by Ian Quinn who was being ordered by the “Clairvoyant.” They break all kinds of S.H.I.E.L.D. protocol and retrieve a drug that, after injecting Skye with, increases her heart rate to an extremely high level then stabilizes it. After all the drama, Garrett and Triplett take Quinn. May has a talk with Coulson where we see a flashback of what he actually saw while he was in the facility: a mutated body that was being preserved and it was hooked up on something that was labeled the same as the drug used on Skye and Coulson himself when he was being brought back to life.
After that we see a scene in Death Valley where this woman named Lorelei dressed in some enchanting dress asks a married guy about Midgard. She then mesmerizes him to serve her so he can drive her to a cooler (yeah in terms of temperature) place.
II. GH325 and that Blue Thing
Okay so I have completely no idea what that blue thing is but I do have theories.
My first theory is that the blue bodied alien is actually an Atlantean, which could lead to the possibility of introducing Namor the Sub-Mariner who debuted in the comics with Captain America. Interesting right? Captain America: Winter Soldier is coming up soon. In this theory, I’m guessing GH325 is a drug which was either tested on the Atlantean or drawn from its blood or anti-bodies which could explain their super human characteristics.
My second theory is that the alien thing is indeed an alien called the Kree, who has to do with Ms. Marvel – A character whose DNA was fused with that of a Kree resulting into having super powers. Either they’re going to introduce her or maybe Skye will actually become Ms. Marvel. I really doubt the latter though. Another reason as to why they’re doing this though might be because of the fact that Marvel’s “Guardians of the Galaxy” will expand more on the Krees. Of course, in this theory, GH325 is a drug drawn from the DNA or blood of the Kree enabling regeneration.
As we can see, Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. is drawing story lines from the comic book and connecting to the big plot lines of Marvel Studios right now. Remember, Clark Gregg (Actor of Agent Coulson) told TV Line that the slow start to the season is about to pay off. “Only in the back half of this season will all of the things that we’ve started to set up, and really the true nature of the show, get fully revealed.” All of the standalone episodes that felt like throwaways are being revealed as part of a larger plan with Coulson and his team in the middle of it. Everything is interlocking with Marvel’s Phase 2 as we speak.
III. Sif and Lorelei
Who is Lorelei? She’s the sister of Amora the Enchantress and she loves Thor. She has the power to enslave any man to do her will and she has magical powers too (Just like her sister). Mainly though, her nemesis is Lady Sif.
Do you remember Lady Sif? Yeah she’s that warrior chick in the Thor movies. I’m going to assume based on the trailer for the next episode that this will be a fight against Lorelei who manages to enslave Agent Ward. It will be interesting to see how this goes since it will link to the story arc of Thor. Once again, Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. will link to Marvel’s main story lines.
A new episode will show next week on March 11, 2014 entitled “Yes Men.”
